Enamels

The enamel artwork has been produced by firing and working enamel (finely ground glass) in a kiln. The high temperature fuses the molten enamel to copper. Enamelling has been pratcised at least since Celtic times in Wales and the copper relfects something of the industrial history of Wales. Each enamel is an original and the colours and textures shown in the images aresamples of the styles and images available. Please contact us through the commissions page if you are looking for specific colours or images.

The enamels are mounted on reclaimed slate from the quarries of North Wales. The different coloured slates coming from Blaenau Ffestiniog and Nantlle. We also use reclaimed slate tiles from Carmarthenshire. These enamels are also available mounted in a white, glass fronted box frame.

Please note that because of the firing process each enamel is an original and the enamel you order may vary slightly from the image shown.
